Two films we recently completed are playing at the 2012 Dallas International Film Festival this month!

Satellite of Love
World Premiere, Texas Competition
Color
Saturday April 14 7pm at Magnolia 4
Sunday April 15 12:30pm at Magnolia 5

Directed by Will Moore
Produced by Bobby McDonald and Mike Lutz
Executive Producers John Michael Measells and Will James Moore
Shot by Steve Acevedo

Samuel, Blake and Catherine are longtime friends who share a companionship that is truly special, but they’ve all sadly grown apart through the years. After once being with Samuel, Catherine is now married to Blake and runs an all-consuming restaurant. Attempting to put their differences in the past, Samuel invites the couple to vacation with him and his eccentric DJ girlfriend in the beautiful California wine country. But reigniting their deep friendship proves more difficult than imagined when they realize that old flames often still smolder.

America’s Parking Lot
Texas Competition
Saturday April 14 1:45pm at Angelika 6
Monday April 16 5:00pm at Angelika 7

Directed by Jonny Mars
Executive Producers 3What?LLC and Alan Berg
Producers Jonny Mars and Jason Wehling
Edited by Robin Schwartz

Professional sports continues to morph into a casual wealthy man’s pursuit at the spectator level, even as the common fan consumes more merchandise, information and satellite packages than ever to feed their obsession. AMERICA’s PARKING LOT personalizes—and for Texas audiences, localizes—the shift.

Tiger’s an Arlington man with an unreasonable memorabilia collection whose first marriage ended because of his passion for the Dallas Cowboys. Cy’s an equally rabid ‘Boys fan who hauls a 25-foot custom party trailer to every home game—from the other side of Abilene. Together they anchored Texas Stadium’s often-rowdy Gate 6 tailgate parties, which was a decades-long tradition even for stadium staff. But the impending opening of $1.2 billion Cowboys Stadium—partially financed publicly like most new pro sports facilities, but still saddled with shiny, hefty price hikes for attendees—forces them to make hard decisions about the boundaries of their support. Through the changes and adjustments and despite some serious conflicts, as well as context from fans in New York and Green Bay, Tiger and Cy figure out how to make do as fans of a much more inaccessible but equally vital team to their community.

We’re really looking forward to see the Dallas reaction of APL, and see how Satellite plays for it’s first audiences!

Flustered, May loses the cooler containing the marrow.
After the tragic death of a newly arrived Ex-pat, ESL kindergarten teachers Simon and Darin, steal the corpse in order to perform the final rites for the fallen stranger. Their quest for the perfect burial spot becomes a quixotic odyssey along Taiwan’s picturesque East Coast Highway, where they encounter welcoming families, violent gangsters, personal demons, and Nikita, their traveling companion. The duty, transport, and dementia fueled by frequent substance abuse, ignites an internalization in all three characters as they define their personal feelings concerning mortality, purpose, burial rites and the concept of legacy.
